Whether or not you get the significance of the pineapple, this image can spark conversation and help people to visualize the impact that infertility has on our world. When we start to see how prevalent infertility actually is, maybe we can reduce the shame infertile individuals and couples feel and the taboo around this struggle will lift.

So why a pineapple? In the past few years the pineapple has become the symbol for IVF and more broadly for infertility and infertility awareness. There are many stories of how and why the pineapple became the go to image for this group, and one that seems to resonate is that fertility treatments can make you prickly on the outside, but you will remain sweet on the inside, so stand tall and proud, straighten your crown and be the best you that you can be.
