It is big. It is heavy. It sometimes seems all consuming and it didn’t go the way you thought it would… But it isn’t everything.
What is it? You don’t have to say, we don’t have to know. What you should know is that we all have an it. We all have something that was planted within us but never grew despite the water and the sun and the love. Whatever it is, it’s just not what we thought it would be. Sometimes it hurts and that’s okay!
When we focus on it, we sometimes lose site of all of the good that surrounds it. There are so many things that are going right. So many other things that define us other than it. And when we focus on those things we can find joy. The purpose of this design is to acknowledge that it is a thing, but it isn’t everything. Maybe this can spark conversation, or maybe this becomes our private talisman of hope. In any case, the power of it is decreased by acknowledging the good that surrounds it.
If you want to find out more about the design process that went into this image, and what it means for the designer (Annie), you can check out the blog post about it here.
